Making CPD Effective – useful reading

Last month, Norwich Research School hosted a twilight on the subject of Making CPD Effective. Roger Higgins and Tom Pinnington from Norwich Research School/Notre Dame High School delivered a whistle-stop tour through the evidence and what it can tell us about effective professional development for teachers. Using tools from the EEF, the Teacher Development Trust, and the Guskey Model, the session provided an introduction to the concepts explored in depth in the three-day CPD training course Leading Learning (developed by the Research Schools Network and Norwich Research School). This course has run for the first time this year (you can read more here, and here), and will be repeated next year, kicking off in January.
In the twilight, attendees – senior leaders from schools across Norfolk – were given time to discuss their own schools’ CPD models, and were given a range of evidence-based ideas that they can implement, to begin to improve their school’s CPD practice. They were also encouraged to sign up for our free Implementation and Evaluation training day later this month.
Feedback from the session was excellent, and we hope to welcome our attendees back to Notre Dame for our other upcoming twilights (on Early Years, and Secondary Science) or on the Leading Learning course itself.
