Norwich Research Leads Network (#NorReL)

09:00–15:30 on 21 March 2018

The Research Leads Network is an informal peer support network to share ideas and practice among like-minded educators who are interested in using research to inform their practice. On a practical level, this is what we do:

Monthly meetings, open to anyone interested in that month’s topic and/or speaker. You don’t have to be a member of the Network to attend (so you can bring a colleague if you like)
Research Lead training with Stuart Kime from Evidence Based Education (21 March). We would particularly recommend this for Research Leads working on Evidence-Based Practice Fund projects, as evaluation is Stuart’s area of expertise and so important to funded projects
Networking, both formal and informal, and direct contact with experts in their fields who are working with Norwich Research School to share best practice and translate it into the classroom. […]

Long Term Learning

09:00–15:00 on 21 February 2018

Which teaching methods, using evidence from cognitive science, have been shown to improve memory retention and recall? How can better course and curriculum planning improve the depth and scope of student knowledge? What are the most effective revision strategies to teach our students?
We will who how research can help teachers and leaders to design effective lesson sequences, which promote long-term learning and progress, rather than short-term performance. We will also show how evidence-informed ideas can be used to support students in their revision and study. […]

09:00 on 5 February 2018–15:00 on 9 March 2018

I want people to look at what’s going on in East Anglia and say “we want to do what they’re doing!”
Stuart Kime spoke at our Information Evening last week about the sense of excitment that’s building in “the East” about how we can work together and use Research to improve practice and outcomes here. He also spoke about Bananrama… but that’s another story.
November has been another busy, positive and encouraging month. You can read our newsletter (and subscribe to it here) but this post outlines some personal reflections on the past month. […]
